Shadows and Fog is a 1991 black comedy film directed by Woody Allen. The movie is set in a small European village in the 1920s where a killer is on the loose, strangling his victims. Kleinman (played by Allen), a timid bookkeeper, finds himself caught up in the hysteria that has gripped the city. He sets out to find the vigilante group that has formed to catch the killer, hoping to join them and contribute to the cause.
Kleinman's search takes him through the dark, foggy streets of the village, where he encounters a variety of eccentric characters, including clowns, prostitutes, and circus performers. Along the way, he also meets a beautiful woman named Irmy (played by Mia Farrow) who is on the run from her abusive boyfriend.
