Frostbite: A Chilling Pursuit of Justice

Adventure  Canada,France

Shadow of the Wolf is a 1992 film directed by Jacques Dorfmann and starring Lou Diamond Phillips, Toshiro Mifune, and Jennifer Tilly. The film is based on the novel "The Curse of the Shaman" by Canadian author Jean-Philippe Arrou-Vignod.

The film is set in the 1930s and tells the story of Agaguk (Lou Diamond Phillips), a young Inuit hunter who lives with his wife Igiyook (Toshie Mifune) and their daughter in a traditional Inuit village. When a member of the tribe is murdered, Agaguk becomes the prime suspect, and he must flee from the village to avoid being prosecuted by Henderson (Donald Sutherland), the unscrupulous mountie investigating the case.

Agaguk must now survive the harsh winter climate of Northern Quebec while being hunted by Henderson and his men. Along the way, he meets a young girl named Kroomak (Jennifer Tilly) who helps him evade his pursuers. As Agaguk journeys further into the wilderness, he must confront his own beliefs and traditions as well as the prejudices of the outside world.

The film explores themes of cultural identity, colonialism, and the clash between traditional and modern ways of life. Shadow of the Wolf is notable for its portrayal of Inuit culture and a cast that includes both indigenous and non-indigenous actors.
