Sexmission is a 1984 Polish sci-fi comedy film directed by Juliusz Machulski. The movie revolves around the two male scientists, Max and Albert, who are chosen for a time experiment. However, before they can be brought back to life, the catastrophic World War III breaks out, and their hibernation facility is sealed, keeping them in stasis for much longer than planned.
When they wake up, they find themselves in a strange, underground world ruled exclusively by women. It has been 50 years since the war, and the surviving women have developed their society into a peaceful, eco-friendly utopia, where all traces of men have been removed from history. Max and Albert soon realize they are the only male specimens left alive on Earth and must adapt to a new way of life.
The movie explores themes of gender roles, sexual politics, and societal norms. The two male leads, played by Jerzy Stuhr and Olgierd Lukaszewicz, must navigate through this new society and try to figure out their place in the world. They soon discover that not only is the society free of men, but it is also devoid of any conflict or violence.
The film was a critical and commercial success and won several awards, including the Silver Lion award at the Gdynia Film Festival in Poland. It is considered a cult classic and is credited with sparking a new wave of Polish cinema.
