Mixed Marriages: A Chaos Unveiled

Comedy  France

Serial (Bad) Weddings (Qu'est-ce qu'on a fait au Bon Dieu? in French) is a French comedy film released in 2014. The movie follows a couple, Claude and Marie Verneuil, who are traditional Catholics living in France. They have four daughters, and when the movie begins, they are all grown up and engaged to be married.

However, things get complicated when each daughter chooses a husband who is of a different religion and cultural background. The oldest daughter marries a Muslim man, the second marries a Jew, the third marries an Asian man, and the youngest marries an African man. This causes a culture clash in the Verneuil household, as they struggle to come to terms with their daughters' choices.

The movie follows the Verneuil family as they try to navigate their new multicultural family dynamics. At first, they are resistant to change and have a hard time accepting their new in-laws. But as they get to know them better, they start to see their similarities and learn to appreciate their differences.

Throughout the film, there are many humorous and awkward situations that arise due to the cultural differences between the families. However, the movie ultimately carries a message of acceptance and love, showing that despite our differences, we can all come together and embrace each other's cultures.

Serial (Bad) Weddings was a box office success in France, and it was widely praised for its humorous yet insightful portrayal of multiculturalism in modern-day France.
