September Dawn is a historical drama film directed by Christopher Cain and released in 2007. The film is based on the events surrounding the Mountain Meadows Massacre, which was a violent incident that took place in southern Utah on September 11, 1857.

The story follows a fictional love story between a Mormon man named Jonathan Samuelson (played by Trent Ford) and a non-Mormon woman named Emily Hudson (played by Tamara Hope). The two fall in love despite the tensions between their respective communities. However, their love is threatened by the escalating tensions surrounding the arrival of a wagon train of non-Mormon settlers passing through Utah on their way to California.

When it becomes clear that the settlers will not pass through without incident, the local Mormon leaders, including Brigham Young (played by Terence Stamp), order a group of Mormons disguised as Indians to attack the wagon train. The settlers are massacred, and Emily is one of the few survivors.

As she recovers from her injuries, Emily begins to uncover the truth about what happened at Mountain Meadows and the role that Jonathan and his family played in the massacre. She must decide whether to seek revenge or to forgive.

The film received mixed reviews, with some critics praising the performances of the cast while others criticized the film for being historically inaccurate and sensationalistic. Despite this, September Dawn remains a powerful and thought-provoking portrayal of a tragic moment in American history.
