Secret Sunshine

"Secret Sunshine" is a 2007 South Korean drama film directed by Lee Chang-dong. The story revolves around Sin-ae, who moves to the town of Miryang with her young son after her husband passes away. Sin-ae is a piano teacher and plans to start a new life in Miryang. However, tragedy strikes when her son is kidnapped and murdered.

Sin-ae struggles to keep her marriage together, but is unable to find solace in anything. She experiences a crisis of faith, questioning the existence of God, and begins to suffer from depression. She also has a brief affair with a mechanic who works at her husband's shop.

As the story progresses, Sin-ae seeks closure in different ways. She attends church, has conversations with a local pastor, and even takes a trip to see her home city. She tries to come to terms with her grief, but it remains a constant presence in her life.

The film explores themes of grief, loss, and faith, and was praised for its authentic portrayal of human emotions. It won several awards, including the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival for Jeon Do-yeon's performance as Sin-ae.
