In the movie Second In Command, Sam Keenan is a retired Marine who has taken on the role of Deputy Chief of Mission in the U.S. embassy in a fictional Eastern European country. He is sent to the embassy to help out when the current ambassador is murdered, and he quickly discovers that the situation is much worse than he anticipated.
The country is on the brink of civil war, with armed insurgents trying to overthrow the government. The president of the country seeks refuge in the embassy, and it soon becomes a target for the rebels, who want to capture the president and take control of the country.
As the situation deteriorates, Keenan takes charge of the embassy's defense, using his martial arts skills to fight off the attackers. He is aided by a small team of embassy staff, including the ambassador's widow, played by British actress Julie Cox.
The movie is a classic action thriller, with plenty of explosive fight scenes and tense moments as Keenan tries to protect the embassy and its staff from the attacking rebels. Van Damme is in top form as the hero, delivering powerful kicks and punches in his trademark style. The movie also features some impressive special effects, including explosions and gun battles, which add to the excitement of the action-packed plot.
