Sea of Love is a 1989 American neo-noir thriller film directed by Harold Becker and written by Richard Price and Becker. The film stars Al Pacino, Ellen Barkin, and John Goodman.
The movie revolves around a serial killer who targets women through personal ads in New York newspapers. Detective Frank Keller (Pacino), who has a reputation for being cynical and aloof, joins forces with detective Sherman Touhey (Goodman) to investigate the murders. As they begin to investigate, they find that all of the victims had met their killer through the personal ads in the newspapers.
While investigating the case, Frank meets Helen (Barkin), a woman who he suspects may be the killer's next target. Frank and Helen begin a romantic relationship, but he soon realizes that she may be more closely involved with the murders than he originally suspected.
As the investigation intensifies, Frank becomes increasingly obsessed with the case, putting his own life and the lives of those around him in danger. The film reaches its climax as Frank and Helen confront the killer in a tense and dramatic scene.
Sea of Love received critical acclaim upon its release and was a commercial success, grossing over $110 million worldwide. It is often cited as one of Pacino's best performances and is noted for its suspenseful plot, stylish direction, and excellent cast.
