In Scream 2, Sidney Prescott (played by Neve Campbell) has moved on from the events of the first movie and is now a college student at Windsor College. However, when a new killer starts targeting her and her friends once again, she realizes that the ghostface killer is back.
The killer targets students who are involved in a theater production of the play "Stab," which is based on the events of the first movie and its subsequent book adaptation. As the murders continue, Sidney teams up with returning characters Dewey Riley (David Arquette) and Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) to try and stop the killer.
The movie features a new cast of characters, including Sidney's new boyfriend Derek (Jerry O'Connell) and her friend Hallie (Elise Neal). It also introduces a new suspect in the form of film student Mickey (Timothy Olyphant), who is obsessed with horror movies and is convinced that the killings are part of a grand cinematic plan.
As the body count rises, the characters must try to figure out the killer's identity and stop them before more people die. The movie is filled with suspenseful chase scenes, unexpected plot twists, and plenty of references to classic horror movies. It ultimately culminates in a shocking finale that reveals the killer's true identity.
