Scorpio is a 1973 spy thriller directed by Michael Winner and starring Burt Lancaster, Alain Delon, and Paul Scofield. It follows the story of CIA agent Cross (played by Lancaster) who is betrayed by his friend and fellow operative, Frenchman Jean Laurier, also known as Scorpio (played by Delon). In the film, Cross is a veteran CIA agent who is approaching retirement. He is asked by his superior, William L. Durning (played by Scofield), to carry out a secret mission to locate and capture the former head of the KGB. Cross is assigned Scorpio as his partner, and the two set off on their dangerous mission. However, things go awry when Scorpio betrays Cross and is ordered by the CIA to eliminate him. As the two former friends turn against each other, Cross must use all of his skills and resources to stay alive and complete his mission. The movie features intense action scenes, complex characters, and a twist ending that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. Scorpio was praised for its gritty realism and strong performances by Lancaster and Delon, who were both well-known actors at the time of the film's release.
