In Scooby-Doo! Stage Fright, the gang arrives in Chicago to compete in the Talent Star competition. Fred and Daphne are finalists, hoping to win with their original song, while Scooby and Shaggy have a surprise act planned. However, they soon discover that the competition is being held in an old opera house with a haunted past, and strange things begin to happen.
The gang uncovers a dark history surrounding the opera house, including a vengeful phantom who has cursed the show's production. As they investigate, they meet a cast of eccentric characters, including the famous ventriloquist, Winslow Fleach, and his creepy dummy, Mr. E.
With the help of their trusty Mystery Machine and Scooby's sharp instincts, the gang solves puzzles and collects clues while trying to avoid the phantom's traps. Meanwhile, the competition heats up as the other contestants try to outdo each other with their own acts.
