The movie starts with Mystery Inc. disbanding after a disagreement on their last case. Fred, Daphne, and Velma have all moved on with their lives, but Shaggy and Scooby have remained best friends and continue to solve minor mysteries on their own.
Two years later, they all receive an invitation to Spooky Island, which promises to solve all their issues. The gang arrives separately and realizes they have all been invited. Upon arriving at the island, they are met by its owner, Emile Mondavarious, and his assistant, Mary Jane.
The gang soon discovers that something strange is going on at the amusement park. The young visitors are being turned into mindless zombies after eating food from the park's restaurant. The gang teams up again to solve the mystery.
Their investigation reveals that the park is being run by demons who plan to take over the world by turning everyone into mindless zombies. The demons are revealed to be Mondavarious and his assistant, who have been possessed by the real demons.
With the help of the park's security guard, the gang manages to make a plan to stop the demons by interrupting their ritual. They successfully stop the demons, who are exposed as fake and turned out to be animatronics controlled by Mondavarious's assistant.
In the end, the gang reconciles and decides to continue solving mysteries together. They even popularize themselves by selling their story to a television producer.
