School for Sex

Comedy  United Kingdom

The movie School for Sex was released in 1969 and directed by Robert Hartford-Davis. The film was considered controversial at the time of its release due to its explicit content and subject matter. It starred Peter Ratray as Lord Wingate, who was a notorious playboy and fraudster. He started the finishing school with the intention of teaching young women how to seduce wealthy men and extract money from them. The school was run in the mansion of the Duchess of Burwood, a former socialite who had fallen on hard times due to her alcoholism.

The school had a strict code of conduct, with the women being trained in various skills, such as etiquette, grooming, and seduction techniques. Hector, the fitness instructor, taught them how to maintain their physical appearance and appeal to men. The probation officer who supplied the pupils was played by Derek Aylward, who had a recurring role as the character in many British exploitation movies of the era.

However, the police and the neighbours became suspicious of the activities at the mansion, and eventually raided it. The ensuing scandal led to Lord Wingate's new court appearance, and he was sentenced to prison. However, the judge who tried him was revealed to be corrupt and had his own plans to start a similar school. The film ends with the implication that the judge would carry on where Wingate left off.

School for Sex was mostly regarded as a B-movie and received mixed reviews upon its release. The film was heavily edited in some territories and banned outright in others due to its controversial subject matter.
