Joan, a survivor of a brutal attack by a serial killer known as Bishop, has spent years trying to move on from the traumatic experience. She returns to her hometown for her niece's graduation, hoping for a fresh start. However, when she arrives, she discovers that Bishop has escaped from prison and is on the loose.
As Joan struggles to come to terms with the possibility that Bishop may be seeking revenge, she is plagued by memories of her own torture at his hands. She is also haunted by the guilt of having killed Bishop, which has made her a pariah in her own community.
