Scalps

Horror  United States of America

Scalps is a horror film released in 1983 that follows a group of college students who decide to conduct an archaeological dig at an Indian burial site in the desert. The group includes a professor, his daughter, and four other students. As they begin to dig, they uncover a skull that has a strange symbol engraved on it.

One of the students, played by Jo-Ann Robinson, seems to be particularly drawn to the skull and begins to experience strange and terrifying visions. As the night wears on, the group starts to experience inexplicable phenomena and they begin to realize that they are not alone: an evil spirit known as Black Claw is haunting the site and seeking to possess them.

As the possessed student begins to turn on her friends, the remaining survivors try to fight back against the spirit but find themselves trapped in a religious battle for their lives. In the end, only a few are left standing, and they must come to terms with the horrific consequences of their actions.

Scalps is an unusual and unsettling horror film that blends indigenous folk tales and supernatural horror in a way that is both captivating and terrifying. The gritty and grainy film quality, as well as the use of practical effects, gives the movie a vintage feel that is both nostalgic and eerie. With a suspenseful plot, plenty of gore and blood, and a cast of memorable characters, Scalps is a must-see for any fan of horror movies.
