Savior is a 1998 film directed by Predrag Antonijević and starring Dennis Quaid as Joshua Rose, a disillusioned mercenary who joins the French Foreign Legion to flee his troubled past. While serving in Bosnia during the Yugoslav Wars, Rose witnesses the atrocities committed by the Serbs against the Muslim population and confronts his own inner demons as he tries to help a young woman, Vera (Nastassja Kinski), and her son escape certain death.
As Rose becomes more involved in the conflict and forms a bond with Vera, he begins to question his loyalty to his fellow soldiers and his own sense of morality. He is forced to make difficult choices as he tries to protect Vera and her son from the brutality of war, including risking his own life to save hers.
The film was praised for its realistic portrayal of the violence and horror of the Balkan conflict, as well as for the strong performances of its cast, particularly Quaid's performance as Rose. However, it also received criticism for its simplistic portrayal of the conflict and for its portrayal of the Muslim characters as helpless victims in need of saving.
