As the residents of a small coastal town prepare for their annual sandcastle competition, they are unaware of the terrifying danger lurking beneath the sand. A prehistoric breed of shark known as "sand sharks" has somehow made their way onto the shore and are now able to swim through the sand like it's water.
When the first attack occurs during the competition, panic ensues and the town's mayor, played by a washed-up former action star, must figure out a way to save his town from these relentless predators. As more and more people fall victim to the sand sharks, a group of unlikely heroes including a marine biologist, a surfer dude, and a fearless lifeguard come together to devise a plan to lure the sharks away from the beach and back into the ocean where they belong.
But just when they think they have defeated the sand sharks, a massive storm hits the town, causing a flood that brings the deadly creatures back onto the shore for a final showdown. Will the townspeople be able to survive this epic battle against nature's most fearsome hunters, or will they be lunch for the sand sharks lurking beneath the sand?
