As the countdown to the "Big One" begins, seismologist Molly Dunn (played by Christina Moore) teams up with her ex-husband, FEMA director Robert Graves (played by Jhey Castles), to try and find a solution to save millions of lives in California.
Their only hope lies in the Long Valley Caldera, a super-volcano that has the potential to release enough energy to counterbalance the earthquake and keep California above water. However, the super-volcano is located miles beneath the surface, making it difficult to reach and even more challenging to activate.
As the scientists work tirelessly to find a way to the super-volcano, they face immense pressure from the government and the public, who are increasingly panicking and demanding immediate action.
To make matters worse, a group of rogue activists also get involved, trying to sabotage the scientists' efforts in their own misguided attempt to save the environment.
As the clock ticks down and the pre-shocks escalate into a full-blown catastrophe, the scientists must battle not only the forces of nature but also their own personal demons and conflicting agendas to save California from a final doomsday.
