Saint

Horror,Comedy  Netherlands

The movie Saint follows the legend of St. Nicholas, but with a gruesome twist. Set in a small Dutch town, it opens with a haunting prologue that reveals how years ago, a band of vengeful villagers burned a bishop known as St. Nicholas alive, after discovering he was responsible for the mysterious disappearance of several children.

Years later, the town is gearing up to celebrate the feast of Sinterklaas (St. Nicholas) on December 5th. Teenage friends Frank and Bram are out delivering advertisements to promote their annual party when they accidentally hit someone with their car. The person turns out to be a woman dressed as St. Nicholas, forcing Frank and Bram to take her to their hideout to tend to her wounds.

As the night wears on, they discover that the woman is actually Sinterklaas herself - or rather, a supernatural being who assumes his guise. She reveals that when there is a full moon on December 5th, the boundary between the living and the dead is thinnest, and the long-dead St. Nicholas returns to seek revenge on those who betrayed him by kidnapping and killing young children.

Frank and Bram initially disregard her warnings but are soon plunged into a nocturnal nightmare as the murderous St. Nicholas begins a violent rampage throughout the town. With their friends and family being brutally slaughtered, Frank and Bram must find a way to stop the cycle of violence and defeat the vengeful entity before it's too late.

The movie is gory, darkly humorous, and features a dark twist on traditional holiday folklore, making it an intense and thrilling watch.
