Sadie

Drama  United States of America

Sadie is a drama film directed by Megan Griffiths which follows the story of a 13-year-old girl named Sadie, whose father is away serving in the military. Sadie is a thoughtful and mature girl who wants to keep her family together while her father is away. However, her mother, Rae, seems to be distracted by the arrival of a new man, Cyrus, at the Shady Plains Trailer Park where they live.

Cyrus is a charming and enigmatic man who starts showing interest in Rae, much to Sadie's dismay. Sadie thinks that Cyrus is trying to take her father's place, and she starts to take matters into her own hands to preserve her father's place on the home front.

Sadie's actions become increasingly erratic as she tries to do whatever it takes to keep her family together, including threatening and lashing out at Cyrus. Meanwhile, her father's absence becomes more and more palpable as his letters become less frequent and comfortable.

The film explores themes of family, loyalty, love, and sacrifice. It features strong performances by the cast, particularly Sophia Mitri Schloss as Sadie and Melanie Lynskey as Rae. Sadie is a heartwarming and insightful drama that will resonate with audiences who have experienced the challenges of maintaining family unity amidst difficult circumstances.
