Ruthless People is a comedy film that was released in 1986. The film follows the story of Sam Stone (played by Danny DeVito), a wealthy businessman who will do anything to get what he wants. Sam is having an affair with his secretary, Carol (played by Anita Morris), and is planning to kill his wife, Barbara (played by Bette Midler), to get her fortune.
When Sam's plan is revealed to his wife, she decides to file for divorce. This angers Sam and he decides to hire a hitman to kill her. However, he soon discovers that he has been double-crossed and that the hitman has kidnapped Barbara.
Meanwhile, a couple named Ken (played by Judge Reinhold) and Sandy (played by Helen Slater) are struggling to make ends meet. They are furious with Sam after he takes advantage of them in a real estate deal, so they decide to kidnap Barbara and hold her for ransom.
However, things don't go as planned when they discover that Sam is actually happy that his wife has been kidnapped. He was planning to kill her all along and is now free to be with Carol without any consequences.
As the situation gets more complicated, Ken and Sandy must come up with a new plan to get out of the mess they have created. The film is filled with dark humor and is a classic example of 80s comedy. It's a must-watch for fans of 80s cinema.
