Rushmore is a 1998 comedy-drama movie directed by Wes Anderson and co-written by Anderson and Owen Wilson. The film stars Jason Schwartzman as Max Fischer, a 15-year-old student at the prestigious Rushmore Academy who falls in love with his new teacher, Miss Cross (Olivia Williams). Max is not the best student at Rushmore, but he is passionate about his extracurricular activities, including theater, debate, and running various clubs.

Max's infatuation with Miss Cross leads him to begin to neglect his schoolwork and other responsibilities, causing him to be placed on academic probation. Max then turns to Herman Blume (Bill Murray), a wealthy businessman and parent of two students at Rushmore, for advice on how to win Miss Cross's affection. Herman, who is also struggling with feelings of dissatisfaction in his personal life, becomes Max's mentor and confidante.

As Max and Herman compete for Miss Cross's attention, their rivalry intensifies, leading to a series of comedic and dramatic twists and turns. The film explores themes of love, ambition, friendship, and the complexities of adulthood.

Rushmore was a critical and commercial success upon its release, earning praise for its offbeat humor, quirky characters, and stylish cinematography. It was Anderson's second feature-length film, following his debut with Bottle Rocket (1996). The movie helped establish Anderson as a distinctive voice in American independent cinema and has since become a cult classic.
