Running Scared is a gritty crime thriller directed by Wayne Kramer and starring Paul Walker as Joey Gazelle, a low-level mobster who is tasked with disposing of a gun used in a drug deal gone wrong. When Joey's son's best friend, Oleg, takes the gun from Joey's house and uses it to shoot his abusive stepfather, Joey is forced to go on a dangerous mission to retrieve the gun and Oleg before the police or the mob can capture them.
As Joey searches for Oleg and the gun, he encounters a series of disturbing characters and violent situations, including a pedophile ring and a deranged drug dealer. Meanwhile, Joey's wife, Teresa (played by Vera Farmiga), begins to suspect that something is wrong and begins to investigate on her own.
The film is known for its intense action sequences and dark, disturbing themes, including child abuse, pedophilia, and graphic violence. It received mixed reviews from critics upon its release in 2006, but has since gained a cult following for its unconventional storytelling and uncompromising vision.
