Ruby & Quentin (2003) is a French crime comedy directed by Francis Veber. The movie follows the story of Ruby (Jean Reno), a seasoned thief and an expert in breaking out of jails, who accidentally leaves behind a canister full of cash when the cops close in on him. While in prison, Ruby befriends Quentin (Gerard Depardieu), a simple-minded but good-hearted inmate who keeps rambling about his love for his pet mouse, Jean-Jacques.

One day, Quentin decides to make a bold escape attempt on his own, which inevitably fails. Ruby, being the only one who knows how to escape, decides to help Quentin plan another attempt to break out of jail. Much to his dismay, Ruby discovers that Quentin has a tendency to complicate things and constantly puts them both in danger.

Despite their differences, Ruby and Quentin forge a bond and become unlikely partners in crime. Together, they embark on a wild journey full of mishaps and adventures as they try to track down Ruby's former partners in crime and retrieve the loot he left behind. Along the way, they encounter a variety of eccentric characters, including an old lady who mistakes Ruby for her son and a crooked cop who wants to get his hands on the money.

As they continue their pursuit, Ruby becomes obsessed with avenging the death of the woman he loved, who was killed by one of his former partners. The duo's escapades take them to unexpected places, and they find themselves in increasingly perilous situations. However, with Quentin's unwavering loyalty and dedication, Ruby finds the courage to face his fears and ultimately achieve his goals.

Overall, Ruby & Quentin is a lighthearted, entertaining film that combines elements of crime, humor, and heart. It showcases the strong chemistry between Jean Reno and Gerard Depardieu, who play two vastly different characters who share a common goal. The movie is full of laugh-out-loud moments, thrilling sequences, and a heartwarming ending.
