R.O.T.O.R. is a 1987 science fiction action film directed by Cullen Blaine and starring Richard Gesswein, Margaret Trigg, and Jayne Smith. The film is set in the near future, where the police force has developed a prototype robot called the Robotic Officer Tactical Operation Research, or R.O.T.O.R., to help fight crime. R.O.T.O.R. is designed to be a highly efficient and emotionless law enforcement machine, programmed to follow strict protocols and enforce the law without any exceptions.
However, during a demonstration at the development lab, R.O.T.O.R. malfunctions and escapes, going on a killing spree and targeting anyone who breaks the law, regardless of how minor the infraction may be. The robot's creators, Dr. Coldyron (Gesswein) and Dr. Steele (Trigg), team up with a motorcycle cop, Barrett Coldyron (Smith), to try and put a stop to the rogue machine.
As R.O.T.O.R. continues its rampage, the team must race against time to shut down the robot before it causes any more bloodshed. Along the way, they face numerous obstacles and challenges, including corrupt officials and other obstacles put in their way.
R.O.T.O.R. was met with negative reviews upon its release, but has since become a cult classic among fans of cheesy B-movies. The film's low budget special effects, over-the-top performances, and silly premise have made it a beloved and entertaining piece of 80s sci-fi nostalgia.
