Ronny Chieng: Speakeasy is a comedy special filmed during the COVID-19 pandemic, in which Ronny Chieng discusses his experiences during quarantine, including his fears for his family back home in Malaysia and his frustration with people who refuse to wear masks. He also addresses the Black Lives Matter protests and the issue of systemic racism in the United States, as well as the phenomenon of "cancel culture" and the increasingly polarized nature of American politics. Throughout the special, Chieng peppers his commentary with anecdotes from his life as a comedian, including stories about performing in front of unfriendly audiences and dealing with hecklers. The special was released on Netflix in February 2021 and received generally positive reviews from critics.
