After meeting at the ball, Romeo and Juliet secretly meet and declare their love for each other. However, their happiness is short-lived when their family feud is uncovered, and they realize the impossibility of their love.
Despite this, they continue to meet in secret with the help of Friar Laurence, hoping to find a way to unite their families and marry. However, their plans are thwarted when Romeo kills Juliet's cousin, Tybalt, in a fight and is banished from Verona.
Juliet is then forced into an arranged marriage with Count Paris, which she refuses, instead choosing to fake her own death with the help of a potion given to her by Friar Laurence. The plan is for Romeo to come and take her away once she awakens from the potion, but a failed message prevents Romeo from receiving the news, and he assumes Juliet is truly dead.
Devastated, Romeo returns to Verona to visit Juliet's tomb and takes his own life, believing there is no reason to live without her. When Juliet awakens and finds Romeo dead, she too takes her own life. Their tragic deaths finally bring an end to the feud between the Montesco and Capuleto families.
