In Romeo Is Bleeding, corrupt cop Jack Grimaldi (played by Gary Oldman) is a seasoned detective who routinely accepts bribes and leaks information to the mob. His double life has allowed him to live in luxury and keep his wife, Natalie (played by Annabella Sciorra), happy. However, his luck takes a turn when he is assigned to protect a witness against the Russian Mafia. Upon meeting the witness, a beautiful hit-woman named Mona Demarkov (played by Lena Olin), Jack becomes infatuated with her.
As the case progresses, Jack finds himself torn between his duty as a cop and his desire for Mona. Eventually, Mona offers Jack a deal: if he helps her to eliminate her own employer, she will make him a wealthy man. Jack agrees and sets up the hit, but soon realizes he is in over his head as the situation spirals out of control, with both the Russian Mafia and the FBI on their tails.
As Jack's lies begin to catch up with him, he finds himself in a dangerous game of cat and mouse, where neither he nor Mona can trust each other. The film culminates in a thrilling showdown between Jack, Mona, the Russian Mafia, and the FBI, leaving Jack with a choice that could either save or destroy his life.
