Romang is a South Korean drama-comedy film that tells the story of Cho Nam-bong (played by veteran actor, Jo Han-sun) and Lee Mae-ja (played by veteran actress, Shim Hye-jin), a couple in their early 70s who are struggling with dementia. As their memories begin to fade away, they start to lose the love and affection that once bound them together.
Nam-bong and Mae-ja have been married for 45 years, but their relationship is now strained as they struggle with their deteriorating health and memory loss. The couple's grown-up children, who are living busy lives of their own, urge them to move into a nursing home so that they can receive proper care. However, Nam-bong insists that he wants to keep his promise to Mae-ja, to love and care for her till the end.
As Mae-ja's dementia worsens, Nam-bong takes it upon himself to care for her and help her rediscover their past. He brings out old photo albums and tells her stories about their early years of marriage. As they both reminisce, they begin to remember the love and happiness that they once shared. Their romance is rekindled, and they start to fall in love all over again.
The film is heart-warming and poignant, showcasing the lives of two people who have spent nearly half a century together and their struggles to hold on to their love and memories. With its strong performances and touching storyline, Romang highlights the importance of family, love, and companionship in old age.
