Rock of Ages is a romantic musical comedy film released in 2012, directed by Adam Shankman and starring Julianne Hough as Sherrie Christian, a young woman from Oklahoma who travels to Los Angeles to chase her dreams of becoming a famous singer, and Diego Boneta as Drew Boley, an aspiring rock musician from Detroit who works as a barback at The Bourbon Room, a famous nightclub on the Sunset Strip.

The movie is set in 1987, during the height of the glam metal era, and follows the love story of Sherrie and Drew as they try to make it big in Hollywood, while facing various obstacles and challenges. They both audition at The Bourbon Room, where they meet the flamboyant owner, Dennis Dupree (played by Alec Baldwin), and his right-hand man, Lonny Barnett (played by Russell Brand), who hire them as waiters and encourage their musical aspirations.

Sherrie and Drew soon fall in love, but their relationship is threatened by the arrival of Stacee Jaxx (played by Tom Cruise), a notorious hard rock star who is scheduled to perform at The Bourbon Room. Sherrie is a big fan of Stacee's, but Drew sees him as a threat to his career and his relationship with Sherrie. Meanwhile, the club is also facing financial troubles and is in danger of being closed down by Patricia Whitmore (played by Catherine Zeta-Jones), a conservative politician who is leading a moral crusade against rock music.

As the plot unfolds, the characters sing and dance to a variety of classic rock songs from the 1980s, such as "Don't Stop Believin'", "Wanted Dead or Alive", "We Built This City" and "Any Way You Want It". The film features several cameo appearances by music legends, such as Mary J. Blige, Bryan Cranston, and Paul Giamatti.

In the end, Sherrie and Drew overcome their differences and perform a duet that wins the hearts of the audience and saves The Bourbon Room from closing down. They both get their big break when a record executive sees them perform and offers them a deal. The film ends with the characters celebrating their success and singing "Don't Stop Believin'" together in the streets of Hollywood.
