Rock & Rule is a 1983 animated science fantasy film directed by Clive A. Smith. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, the movie tells the story of a rock star named Mok who seeks to summon a demon called the "Archer" to help him conquer the world. To do this, he needs the voice of a special singer who has the power to unite the world with her music.
Mok kidnaps a singer named Angel, who is the lead vocalist of a band called "The Pack," and takes her to his castle to force her to participate in the summoning ceremony. Angel's bandmates, Omar, Dizzy, and Stretch, are determined to rescue her from Mok's clutches and stop him from unleashing the demon.
As they journey through dangerous terrain and confront Mok's minions, the Pack meets other mutants and outcasts who have been affected by Mok's evil intentions. Together, they prepare for a final showdown with Mok, using the power of music to defeat him and prevent the demon from destroying the world.
Rock & Rule features original music by various artists, including Cheap Trick, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, and Deborah Harry. The film received critical acclaim for its creative animation, unique story, and memorable music, but it was not a commercial success at the time of its release. Despite this, it became a cult classic and has since influenced other animated rock movies such as Heavy Metal and Cool World.
