The movie Robot & Frank begins with Frank (played by Frank Langella) being picked up by his son, Hunter (James Marsden), because he has been driving his car erratically. It is soon apparent that Frank is suffering from dementia and his children are concerned for his well-being, as he lives alone in a rural house and is struggling to take care of himself.

In an attempt to help him out, Hunter purchases a robot caregiver (voiced by Peter Sarsgaard) for Frank, much to his initial reluctance. However, he soon warms to the robot, which he names "Robot". After initially trying to befriend it, Frank begins to rely on Robot more and more, using him to help create a garden and even to go on heists.

Frank, it turns out, was a jewel thief in his youth, and with Robot's help, he begins planning a new heist. As the plan begins to unfold, Frank's family becomes increasingly concerned about his wellbeing and the dangers of his criminal activities. In particular, Frank's daughter, Madison (Liev Schreiber), who is a successful lawyer, becomes involved in the situation to try and put a stop to it.

The movie Robot & Frank is a charming and heartwarming story about the relationship between a man and his robot, as well as the importance of family and friendship. Langella delivers a sublime performance as an aging widower trying to rebuild his life with the help of his robotic friend. It is a great example of how technology can bring people together and how robots have the potential to add enormous value to people's lives.
