In the movie Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Robin of Locksley (played by Kevin Costner) returns home from fighting in the Crusades to find that the Sheriff of Nottingham (played by Alan Rickman) has taken over his family's estate and killed his father. Seeking revenge, Robin and a group of outcasts, including a Moor named Azeem (played by Morgan Freeman), form a band of Merry Men who rob from the rich and give to the poor.
Along the way, Robin reunites with his childhood friend Maid Marian (played by Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) and they develop a romantic relationship. However, their dangerous escapades put them in the crosshairs of the Sheriff, who wants to capture Robin and kill him.
As Robin and his band of rebels continue to fight against the Sheriff's tyranny, they plan an attack on the Castle of Nottingham where the Sheriff resides. With the help of Marian and Azeem, Robin is able to infiltrate the castle and confront the Sheriff in a final showdown.
Despite suffering injuries, Robin manages to defeat the Sheriff and save the day, restoring peace to the land and reclaiming his family's estate. The movie ends with Robin and Marian deciding to live together in the forest with their newfound family of Merry Men.
