In the 1993 comedy film Robin Hood: Men in Tights, directed by Mel Brooks, Robin Hood (played by Cary Elwes) returns to England and learns from his blind servant Blinkin (Mark Blankfield) that King Richard (Patrick Stewart) has been imprisoned in Austria and Prince John (Richard Lewis) has taken the throne with the help of the corrupt Sheriff of Rottingham (Roger Rees). Robin decides to gather a group of outlaws, including Little John (Eric Allan Kramer), Will Scarlet O'Hara (Matthew Porretta) and Ahchoo (Dave Chappelle), to fight back against Prince John and save England.

In order to raise funds for their rebellion, Robin and his men plan to steal from Prince John's treasury, which leads to several comedic hijinks and a showdown with the Sheriff's army. Along the way, Robin falls in love with Maid Marian (Amy Yasbeck), who is leading a rebellion of her own against Prince John's taxes.

The film is a parody of various Robin Hood adaptations, including the 1938 film The Adventures of Robin Hood and the 1991 film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. It features several memorable comedic moments, such as the "Men in Tights" musical number, the use of modern-day references and the appearances of Mel Brooks as Rabbi Tuckman and Dom DeLuise as Don Giovanni.
