The black marketeer, named Luca, had been profiting off the chaos of the war for years and had built up a network of underworld contacts. He receives a tip about a massive hoard of gold and art that Mussolini has been collecting, and he sees the opportunity to make his biggest score yet.
He approaches a nightclub singer named Maria, who is tired of performing for fascist officials and dreams of a better life. Luca convinces her to help him recruit a team of thieves, promising them a cut of the loot.
The team they assemble is a motley crew of ex-soldiers, criminals, and con artists, each with their own unique skill set. They include a safecracker, a forger, a weapons expert, and a driver.
After months of planning and scouting, the team infiltrates Mussolini's headquarters disguised as fascist soldiers. They make their way to the vault where the treasure is kept, only to discover that it's heavily guarded and booby-trapped.
Overcoming obstacle after obstacle, the team manages to outsmart the guards and make off with the loot. But as they celebrate their success, they realize that they've made a dangerous enemy in the form of the fascist regime, who will stop at nothing to retrieve their stolen treasure.
The team becomes embroiled in a thrilling game of cat-and-mouse as they try to evade the fascists and make their escape, ultimately facing a final showdown that will determine their fate.
