In Rise of the Zombies, a group of survivors lead by Brad (played by Ethan Suplee) and Dr. Lynn Snyder (played by Mariel Hemingway) are forced to flee their homes in San Francisco after a zombie outbreak. They seek refuge in Alcatraz Prison, which they fortify with the help of a knowledgeable prisoner, Caspian (played by Danny Trejo).
While inside the prison, tensions rise as the survivors clash with each other over resources and trust. However, they must put their differences aside when the undead finally breach their defenses and they are forced to escape to the mainland.
The group navigates the dangerous streets of San Francisco, encountering both zombies and other groups of survivors. They soon realize that a mad scientist, Dr. Dan Halpern (played by LeVar Burton), is at the heart of the outbreak and they must find and stop him before it's too late.
