Lucy Liu plays Sadie Blake, an investigative journalist who is assigned to cover a story about a string of murders in Los Angeles. Sadie's investigation leads her to a group of cultists who are practicing a type of vampirism called "the Kindred."
After getting too close to the truth, Sadie is attacked and left for dead by the cultists. However, she wakes up in the morgue with a thirst for blood and a newfound ability to heal quickly.
Determined to seek revenge on her killers and put an end to the cultists' dangerous activities, Sadie teams up with a fellow vampire (played by Michael Chiklis) and a detective (played by James D'Arcy) to bring down the Kindred.
As she continues her quest for vengeance, Sadie struggles to control her bloodlust and maintain her humanity. The film also explores themes of power, corruption, and the consequences of immortality.
