In Rio 2, Blu, a domesticated blue macaw, and his wife Jewel, who is from the wild, travel from Rio de Janeiro to the Amazon rainforest with their three children to find Jewel's tribe of macaws. Along the way, they discover that the Amazon is under threat from illegal logging and mining activities carried out by the villainous Big Boss.
Blu struggles to fit in with the wild macaws as he is used to his comfortable life in Rio. He also has to contend with the vengeful Nigel, a cockatoo who seeks revenge on him for his past actions. Nigel teams up with an anteater and a poisonous frog to sabotage Blu's efforts to impress Jewel and her tribe.
Meanwhile, Jewel reunites with her father, Eduardo, who is the leader of the macaws. Eduardo is initially hostile towards Blu as he regards him as a weak and domesticated bird. However, Blu proves his worth by using his knowledge of human technology to defeat Big Boss and his minions.
Throughout the movie, there are also various musical numbers accompanied by vibrant and colorful animation, featuring popular Brazilian artists such as Bebel Gilberto and Carlinhos Brown. Rio 2 is a fun-filled and family-friendly adventure that showcases the beauty and diversity of the Amazon jungle.
