Rim of the World is a 2019 science fiction adventure film directed by McG and written by Zack Stentz. It stars Jack Gore, Miya Cech, Benjamin Flores Jr., and Alessio Scalzotto as four teenagers who become unlikely allies when an alien invasion interrupts their summer camp experience.
The film opens with a group of astronauts on a space station witnessing a massive ship appear above the Earth. Before they can investigate, the station comes under attack and the astronauts must evacuate. Meanwhile, the teenagers at the Rim of the World Summer Camp are gathered around a campfire when a similar ship appears in the sky. Within moments, the entire area is engulfed in a blinding light and the campers are left stranded.
During the ensuing chaos, Alex (Gore), a bookish camper, meets up with a streetwise kid named Dariush (Flores Jr.) and a tough, military-brat girl named ZhenZhen (Cech). The three are later joined by a cowardly rich kid named Gabriel (Scalzotto). Together, they must traverse dangerous terrain, avoid hostile aliens, and try to locate a key that could save the world from imminent destruction.
Their journey takes them through abandoned towns and forests, where they encounter deadly machines and aliens with seemingly-unstoppable powers. Along the way, they face numerous challenges, including an encounter with a group of survivalists who are not as friendly as they first appear.
As they journey towards their destination, the four teenagers must also confront their own personal demons and insecurities, learning to trust each other and work together despite their differences.
Rim of the World is a thrilling, action-packed adventure that blends science fiction, comedy, and coming-of-age drama. It has been described as a cross between The Goonies and Independence Day, and is sure to delight audiences of all ages.
