Rigor Mortis takes place in a rundown apartment complex where a former actor, Chin Siu-Ho, attempts to commit suicide and is saved by a Taoist priest. However, he soon realizes that the apartment complex is haunted by vicious, undead spirits and he must team up with the priest and other residents to battle the evil forces.
The film is a tribute to the Hong Kong horror movies of the 1980s, particularly the "hopping vampire" genre, and features stunning visuals and special effects. The atmosphere is eerie and unsettling, with a sense of dread that builds throughout the film. The cast includes both veteran actors from the 80s horror movies and newer talent, adding to the homage aspect of the film.
Rigor Mortis was directed by Juno Mak, a Hong Kong pop star turned filmmaker, and was produced by Takashi Shimizu, the creator of the Japanese horror franchise, Ju-On (The Grudge). The movie premiered at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival and received positive reviews for its stylish visuals and unique take on the vampire genre.
