Leif (played by actor Jake Johnson) is a struggling musician who receives the news of his mother's death from his ex-girlfriend, Zoe (played by actress Susan Sarandon). Leif had a difficult relationship with Honey (played by actress Susan Sarandon) since she left him and his father when he was young. However, Leif is surprised to find out that Honey has left him an inheritance - her cabin in Yosemite National Park.
But there's a catch - Honey has left behind a to-do list of tasks for Leif to complete before he can inherit the cabin. The tasks range from easy to nearly impossible - from finding a long-lost childhood toy to running a mile in under six minutes. Leif is initially hesitant to complete the tasks, but Zoe encourages him to take this opportunity to reconnect with his mother in his own way.
As he starts completing the tasks, Leif discovers more about Honey's adventurous and unconventional life that he never knew before. He meets her colorful friends, including her ex-boyfriend Jack (played by actor J.K. Simmons), and learns about her love for nature and music. Along the way, Leif also starts to confront his own fears and regrets, and realize the importance of family and forgiveness.
Ride the Eagle is a heartfelt comedy-drama that explores the complicated relationship between parents and children, and the power of love and forgiveness. Directed by Trent O'Donnell, the movie features a talented cast including Cleopatra Coleman, D'Arcy Carden, and Eric Edelstein.
