Riceboy Sleeps

Drama  Canada

Riceboy Sleeps follows the story of Ji Soo, a single mother who moves to Canada with her young son, Gun Woo, in search of a better life. However, their settling in is far from smooth as the two of them struggle to adapt to their new environment and find their place in this foreign land.

Ji Soo starts working at a Korean restaurant to make ends meet, while Gun Woo starts school, hoping to make friends and fit in. But things do not go as planned, and the cultural differences between Korea and Canada become increasingly apparent.

As Gun Woo starts to assimilate to Canadian culture, distancing himself from his Korean heritage, Ji Soo worries about losing her son to this new world. Their growing rift is further fueled by her past mistakes, for which she carries a heavy burden of guilt.

As the years pass, the gap between Ji Soo and Gun Woo widens, and they struggle to repair their relationship while navigating personal demons and cultural differences. Through heart-warming moments and difficult conversations, they both learn to forgive themselves and each other, ultimately finding healing and redemption.

Riceboy Sleeps is a poignant exploration of the immigrant experience, identity, and the complex dynamics of mother-son relationships.
