Rhino Season is a dramatic film that explores the story of Sahel, a Kurdish-Iranian poet, who has spent the past thirty years as a political prisoner in Iran. During his imprisonment, Sahel has been tortured and abused, but his love for his wife, Mina, has kept him going. Though Mina believed Sahel had been executed years ago, Sahel has managed to survive and is now being released from prison.
Upon his release, Sahel is forced to flee Iran and goes to Istanbul, where he hopes to find Mina. Though he doesn't know where she is, he's determined to set out on a journey to find her. Along the way, he meets a young woman named Azar, who becomes his ally. Together, they embark on a journey that takes them across Iran to Turkey, where Sahel hopes to reconnect with Mina.
Throughout their journey, Sahel shares his poetry with Azar, and the two of them form a deep bond. Despite the challenges they face, including the danger of being caught and the uncertainty of their future, Sahel remains steadfast in his determination to find his wife.
