Resisting Roots follows the story of Genevieve Harper, or Viv, who has taken on the responsibility of raising her younger siblings after their parents died in a tragic accident. Despite being just 24 years old, Viv works hard to provide for her family and has put her own dreams on hold in order to create a stable home for her loved ones. When Trent Fox, a charismatic baseball player, comes to the Lotus House Yoga Center seeking physical and emotional healing, he and Viv are immediately drawn to each other. However, Viv is hesitant to get involved with someone who has a reputation for being a player and fears getting her heart broken. Despite the challenges of their opposing lifestyles, Trent and Viv begin to fall in love as they navigate the obstacles of their relationship. As they grow closer, Viv begins to question her priorities and wonder if she can make room in her life for a romantic partner. Resisting Roots explores the themes of love, family, and self-discovery as Viv and Trent learn to let go of their pasts and embrace the possibilities of the present.
