In Resident Evil: Retribution, Alice is once again played by Milla Jovovich as she navigates the post-apocalyptic landscape of the world overrun by the undead. Alongside Alice are some familiar faces, such as Michelle Rodriguez's character, Rain, who was thought to have died in the first movie, and Carlos Olivera, played by Oded Fehr.
The movie begins with Alice being captured by the Umbrella Corporation, the nefarious company responsible for the T-virus outbreak. Alice is placed in a simulation of suburbia, where she lives out a happy life with her husband Todd and a young daughter named Becky. However, the simulation is disrupted by an attack from a squad of Umbrella soldiers, leaving Alice to fend for herself while trying to protect Becky. The two eventually escape and make their way to a dock where they board a submarine.
From there, Alice travels to the Umbrella facility in Russia, where she meets Ada Wong, played by Li Bingbing, and other characters such as Leon S. Kennedy, played by Johann Urb. Together, the group aims to stop Umbrella's latest plan, Project Alice, which involves creating clones of Alice to weaponize the T-virus to destroy the last pockets of human resistance.
Retribution is notable for its use of slow-motion fight scenes and its depiction of the various clones of Alice, each with different skills and personalities. The film also features a surprising return of a fan-favorite character from the earlier films, setting up the stage for the final installment of the Resident Evil film series, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.
