Resident Evil: Degeneration is a full-length computer-animated film and the first feature-length Resident Evil production in four years since Apocalypse. It was released on October 18, 2008, marking the 12th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise.
The movie takes place seven years after the Raccoon City incident. The protagonist includes Leon S. Kennedy, a government agent deployed to Raccoon City during the T-virus outbreak in 1998 and Claire Redfield, a survivor of the incident. The film opens with a prologue depicting a UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) being remotely hijacked and crashing into Harvardville Airport, turning its passengers into zombies. Leon is sent to the airport to investigate and is reunited with Claire, who is now a member of the Terra Save NGO organization working to aid survivors of bio-terror attacks. As they work together to fight the zombies, they discover that a madman named Frederic Downing is behind the outbreak, seeking revenge against the Umbrella Corporation for killing his family in Raccoon City.
The situation escalates when a biotech company called WilPharma, who has developed a new strain of the G-Virus, arrives on the scene to contain the outbreak. The company's intentions are questioned as Leon and Claire discover that it's the G-Virus that's causing the zombies to mutate into new, deadly creatures. Despite all the chaos, Leon and Claire remain determined to put a stop to the outbreak and take down those responsible for it.
Resident Evil: Degeneration features stunning computer-generated visuals, high-speed action sequences, and pulse-pounding thrills that fans of the Resident Evil franchise are sure to enjoy. The movie is a must-see for fans of the series and those who enjoy action-packed horror films alike.
