Resident Evil: Apocalypse is a 2004 action-horror film directed by Alexander Witt and written by Paul W.S. Anderson. It is the second installment in the Resident Evil film series, based on the video game series of the same name. The film stars Milla Jovovich, Sienna Guillory, Oded Fehr, and Thomas Kretschmann.
The story takes place immediately after the events of the first film. Alice (Jovovich), the protagonist, wakes up in the Umbrella Corporation's underground facility, known as The Hive, where she had previously fought off a horde of zombies. She discovers that the T-virus has spread to the surface, turning Raccoon City into a zombie-infested wasteland. She joins forces with Carlos Olivera (Fehr) and his team of Umbrella soldiers to rescue Dr. Charles Ashford's (Jared Harris) daughter, Angela (Sophie Vavasseur), who is trapped in the city.
Along the way, they encounter a new breed of zombies, including Lickers, which are mutated humans with long tongues and razor-sharp claws, and zombie dogs that have been infected with the T-virus. They also face resistance from the Umbrella Corporation, which plans to nuke the entire city to contain the virus.
As they navigate their way through the city, the group discovers that there is another threat lurking beneath the surface – Nemesis, a bio-engineered monster created by Umbrella to kill all remaining members of the S.T.A.R.S. team, which includes Alice. They must fight against the clock and the odds to rescue Angela and escape the city before it's too late.
In addition to the action-packed fight scenes and intense suspense, the film also explores themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and the dangers of unchecked ambition. Resident Evil: Apocalypse was a box-office success, grossing over $129 million worldwide.
