Lucas arrives in Derry and begins his investigation into his son's death, only to discover that his son had become involved in the dangerous world of underground boxing. As he delves deeper, he meets Michael, a talented but troubled fighter who has been drawn into this world as a way to make money quickly.
Throughout the movie, we see Michael engaging in brutal fights against other boxers, including Brian Beru, the undefeated and fearsome fighter who is considered unbeatable in the ring. Despite his initial reluctance, Lucas agrees to help Michael prepare for the final fight against Brian, knowing that he is the only one who can help ensure his son's survival.
As they train together, Michael also begins to confide in Lucas about his struggles with his sexuality and the pressure he feels to conform to stereotypical masculine roles in his community. Lucas struggles to navigate this new aspect of their relationship but ultimately shows Michael that he accepts and supports him, no matter what.
In the final fight, Michael faces incredible odds as he goes up against Brian in a brutal and bloody match. With Lucas cheering him on from the sidelines, Michael manages to hold his own against the formidable fighter and ultimately emerges victorious.
However, the victory is bittersweet as both Michael and Lucas are forced to confront the harsh realities of their lives and the consequences of their actions. As the movie ends, we are left with a haunting sense of loss and a deep appreciation for the bonds of family and the strength of human resilience in the face of adversity.
