In the film Replicas, the scientist named William Foster played by Keanu Reeves is working on a project to transfer human consciousnesses into robot bodies. One day, he and his family – his wife Mona (Alice Eve) and their three children – get into a car accident and everyone except William dies.
This sends William into a spiral of grief and desperation. He decides to use his scientific knowledge to bring his family back to life, even if it means breaking all the rules of science and ethics. He obtains a secret government technology and uses it to clone his family members' bodies and then transfer their consciousnesses into these new bodies.
As William struggles to keep his project a secret from the authorities and his colleagues, he also has to deal with the ethical dilemmas of messing with human lives and playing God. Meanwhile, the cloned family members start showing strange and disturbing behaviors, leaving William to question whether he has truly restored his family or just created a dangerous and unstable copy.
The film gradually builds up to a nerve-wracking climax, as William frantically tries to save himself, his family, and his reputation from spiraling out of control. Replicas is a gripping science fiction thriller that explores the limits of human ingenuity and the tolls of playing with life and death.
