The storyline of Rendition follows the gripping tale of Anwar El-Ibrahimi, a man of Egyptian descent who has been living in the US for many years. He is on his way back to the US from a conference in South Africa when he is suddenly detained by US authorities at the airport in Washington DC.
Anwar's wife Isabella feels helpless as she desperately tries to ascertain the whereabouts of her husband. Meanwhile, CIA analyst Doug Freeman becomes involved in the matter and is given the task of interrogating Anwar in a secret detention facility where he is held without trial or legal representation.
As Anwar begins to suffer from mental and physical torture at the hands of his captors, the situation becomes increasingly tense. Isabella's attempts to raise awareness and secure her husband's release fall on deaf ears, and Doug starts to question the morality of his job.
As the story unfolds, viewers are drawn into a morally complex thriller that asks difficult questions about the use of torture and the war on terror.
